SUPPLY BASE KEMAMAN(KSB) PETROLEUM

KSB is synonymous to both the company and the base, is located in Terengganu, Malaysia, and began operations in 1982 as an onshore support base dedicated solely to service and supply the offshore petroleum operations. It was specially designed and developed as a comprehensive logistic supply base for Peninsular Malaysia's offshore petroleum exploration and production industries.

KSB is an all weather port due to the natural shelter and the 850-meter breakwater built as a protection from the seasonal northeasterly and south easterly winds. Its 360-meter quay with a depth of 8.0 meters enables it to receive 5-6 supply vessels at any given time. All these berthing facilities are dedicated for the specialized use of the supply vessels and the oil and gas related cargo traffic.

There are more than 220 petroleum supply and service companies with varying degrees of manufacturing and technical service capacities operating at KSB. It is the biggest concentration of experienced contractors in Malaysia supporting the petroleum development.

The whole of KSB is an area licensed under the Customs Act 1967 as a customs bonded area (Section 65), and manufacturing warehouse (Section 65A). As a result, this free tax facility is a value-added bonus to support the manufacturing companies operating at KSB. Hence, KSB is an efficient and effective gateway for the import and export of oil and gas equipment and hardware at competitive rates.

KSB is fully supported by a pool of dedicated, well-trained and experienced stevedores to handle a wide range of cargo and to ensure quick turnaround of ships. Its management team is committed to upkeep the facilities and service to the Malaysian offshore industry. In recognizing its commitment towards satisfying customers needs and expectations, KSB was awarded with the prestigious MS ISO 9002: 1994 Quality Systems - Model for Quality Assurance in Production, Installation and Servicing in 1999. KSB was accredited with MS ISO 14001 in August 2003 for it's concern over environmental management.

The prospect of KSB remains promising. The rapid growth of the petroleum upstream and downstream sectors will augur well for KSB which is developing to become the leading Managed Logistic Service (MLS) provider for the oil and gas industry in this region. Being a subsidiary of Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation (EPIC) - an investment holding company listed on the Bursa Securities Malaysia, together with strong support from PETRONAS and its Production Sharing Contractors, KSB is all geared to take on the oil and gas industry with a dedicated integrated set up, both locally and regionally.
